When double-clicking on on drives in My Computer defragmenter starts - help please

Big Dave

Hi all

When a drive is double-clicked in my computer the disk defragmentation
program starts. If I right-click on the drive defragment is at the top of
the menu and in bold where open, the required action, is further down in the
menu.

Can anyone advise me how to reset to the default action of opening a drived
when double-clicking it and moving open to the top of the menu?

TIA Big Dave

Open Start, Run, type without quotes 'regedit' and press Enter. Go to key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell and check the content of the value '(Default)'. It should contain 'none' (without quotes). Fix it -if necessary- and close Registry Editor.

Type in Start, Run:

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll
