Whats up with this Security Update for MDAC?

Jisha

What's up with this latest Security Update for MDAC (KB832483)?

Windows update is telling me I need to install it... but it's already been
installed twice before, successfully.

Is this a bug with windows update? ...or is something _else_ wrong with my
computer now? ! :(

TIA,
Chris

Some Critical Updates get into update loops. You keep installing them. They keep showing
up.

I "don't" know if the below will work but give it a try...
Copy the text between the dashes "---" (not including the dashes) and paste it into a text
file with the extension REG.

Double-click on the file and allow the OS to merge the contents.

If it works - It will turn off that update looping.

Microsoft Support (free) sent me an EXE file to run that fixed this exact
problem. My understanding is that an earlier version of MDAC is confusing
the situation by preventing the new version from getting installed.

Hi David,

I waited a while to see if installing the update with NAV off would work...
Then I tried your suggestion...

Nothing...

Still getting the loop.

Thanks just the same,
Chris

Hi William,

2 questions...

1) How do I verify what version MDAC is installed &
2) How did you contact MS Support... e-mail?

TIA,
Chris

Updating to MDAC 2.8 did the trick...
After that, the security update applied properly.
