I just finished watching that old toy program with James May, and i was just wondering what toy you all first remember first playing with, or indeed your favourite childhood toy

Oh all right, serious, it was probably a soft toy, dog, teddy bear or something, but I can't remember.

First toys I can remember were a big blue metal toy car and a big red metal toy crane. Probably both, by today's standards, health hazards, both covered in lead paint and with moving parts that trapped tiny fingers.

But hey, I still alive, I still got all my digits and I still sane, well, sortta :p

Train sets came later.

They were either Hornby or Triang.

Remember getting a train set one Christmas, musta costa fortune, Triang Continetal Railway set, one silver Swiss Locomotive/Engine and two silver coaches, one with a 'cockpit' style viewing gallery on the roof.

12 volt DC transformer to power, used to play with it for hours.

My Mum never worked, my old man weren't that well paid, yet they got me and my sister this incredible stuff.

It's maybe taken me this long to apreciate that.

Oh, later, lots of other things, mostly airfix kits, soldiers and stuff :D
