Hi,

I am looking for a latop to buy for Xmas.

The main use of this will be as a base for my Astrophotgraphy. The laptop would need to be able to run a Hi Quality Webcam and process the captured images/video footage once im finished.

I am after a Laptop with a smallish screen and long battery life.

I would also like it to be able to run a few games, mainly civilisation style.

I have a budget of £500

I was looking at the Intel Atom based machines, but am unsure weather they would be up to the job.

Thanks for any help

Mat

PC World had savings of 25%+ on Boxing Day last year!
If your really keen before Christmas to buy one then look at the offers in Staples & PCWorld.
Some retailers are offering good deals if you shop around on the high street.

Ideally mate you want a Core 2 Duo processor and 2 Gb of RAM, Intel GMA X4500 graphics or a dedicated graphics card, for that money you'll be looking at Nvidia 9200, 9300 or ATI 3470.

The guys are right get the cash for Xmas and go on Boxing day or the new year, that way you can get a £650 - £700 laptop for your £500.
