What is the best file recovery program??

My dad's hdd went bad some how and he have thousands of pictures on it that
have to be saved. I have just got done from a two day process of recovering
the files with "EasyRecovery Professional." It worked really great and
recovered over 4500 pictures but the thing that I dont like about this is
that it renamed all the files to: File0, file1, file2, etc.... and put them
all in the same directories. Then I tried "Restorer2000 Professional" and
that found all of the files in the right directories and with the rigth names
but when I rocovered the files it only recovered 900 files.

What I would like to find is a file recovery program that keeps the right
file name and also keeps the files in the same dir as they were before. If
anybody has any idea for programs please let me know of any of them. Thanks
for the input!!!

Zac--

You can take a look at and try Exec Soft's undelete. If the files haven't
been over-written it might be able to recover them; but I'm not sure about
the naming configuration.

Kelly--

Thanks for introducing me to this. I have found one drawback to Execsoft's
Undelete in my hands anyway, was that it seems to be resource intensive.

An endorsement from you on any kind of software, particularly a "rescue
program" that recovers files, restores in any way, or helps you boot when
you can't is a valuable piece of information for the future.

Thanks,

Hi Chad,

Most welcome. As for Restorer2000, I didn't notice nor pay attention to
resources as I had one focus on my mind at the time. I was very impressed
with the results, thus my mention.)

One MVP Doug speaks highly of is:
