My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:
I often can see from viewing the lights on my external modem that
information is being transfered. This can even occur when you press
CTRL,ALT,Del & shut down all programs that appear to be running. Is
it possible to determine whats running & if so how?
A decent firewall would let you know, for the most part, what is going on.
Additionally it could be just the ISP pinging you or standard traffic such
as that. You can also press start > click run > type "cmd" without the
quotes > hit enter > type "netstat /?" without the quotes > hit enter > and
learn to use that command to see what's set to be using the network and what
it's connected to if it's connecting. The last one is likely to give you all
sorts of reasons to ask more questions so before it reaches that point most
everything in there that you could think about asking would be easily found
through a search engine using specific inputs.
