My modem is deleted when I shut down windows. On startup, modem not found,
but I can disconnet & reconnect USB with windows running & modem is fully
functional.
What is the probem?

Buy an NIC card and attach your modem to that, it will be faster.

Thanks for the reply. What is a NIC card & can I (amatuer)install ? Will it
prevent my modem from being deleted everytime I shut down?

NIC
Short for Network Interface Card, an NIC, also referred to as a "network
adapter", is a printed circuit board containing the necessary hardware used
to connect a computer to a network or other computer.

As far as deleting your modem, it can't hurt.

I have a D-Link DFE-530TX+ PCI Adapter purchased at Office Depot for about
15 bucks. Of course now they make better ones then what I have. You plug
the network adapter (or NIC) into a PCI slot, install it, drivers, etc. and
use a Cat 5 cable to plug your modem into the NIC card.
