I am hoping someone can help me with a small problem I have with my USB
Speedtouch 330 ADSL modem.
I am running Windows XP Pro SP1, Packard Bell computer.
I have installed the latest driver for the modem, and the modem manufacturer
has not been able to help me with the problem.
The problem is: If I leave the modem connected when I switch off the
computer, when I restart the computer, the modem isn't recognised, it fails
to initialise. To get it to initialise I have to unplug and then replug the
modem into the computer, Windows then recognises the modem.
If I also just restart Windows, the modem is then recognised. I can also get
the modem recognised if I re-install the driver. The reason I think this is
a Windows USB problem is, if I uninstall the modem, by clicking on the
'Safely remove the Hardware' and click 'Stop', whenever I next restart the
computer the modem is recognised and initialises. Is there someway I can
configure Windows to 'uninstall' the modem when windows shuts down? Or is
there an alternative answer?
I know it's not much of a chore to either unplug and replug the modem, or go
through the 'safely remove hardware' but this problem is 'bugging' me, I
feel sure there is an easy answer, if I only knew what to do.
Thanks for any help.
