what is agp440.sys?

I have a client with an IBM 6823 machine with Windows XP,
that will not load windows. In it gets to the "Windows did
not start successfully" screen that allows one five start-
up options:

safe mode
safe mode w/networking
safe mode w/command prompt
last known good configuration
start windows normally

no matter what selection I pick, the computer comes back
to this screen.

when attempting to start in any safe mode, the computer
will display all drivers loading, but the last is
agp440.sys. I do not know if this is the last successfully
loaded driver, or the last attempted driver.

any help would be appreciated.
