What is a microsoft exchange server?

I try to log inot Microsoft office 2003 and it gives me am error messaged
that I can not connect to the micosoft exchange server. What is the
problem. Is this something I can download. Is it something that I have to
purchase?

MS Office is a suite of applications. You don't log into them. You load
them.

If you defined an Exchange account in Outlook then you need to be using an
Exchange mail server (from Microsoft). Since you don't know what is
Exchange, you don't have an Exchange mail server so you should not be
defining an Exchange account in Outlook. Follow the setup instructions for
whomever's mail service you are actually using.
