what is 550 host not a domain , not a gateway mean?

I cannot receive or send emails out. This just started yesterday and the
response I get back is ( 550 host not a domain....this is not a gateway????)

I have no idea what this means, can you help me?
 
This is an Access newsgroup. Your question does not appear to be related to
building forms in an Access database.

Please ask your question in a newsgroup related to the program you are using
(maybe Outlook or Outlook Express?).
