What if I switch a harddrive to a different motherboard?

Yes, that is what it sounds like. Are you saying that if I change the
boot.ini and it doesn't work, I cannot change it back and I will have
to format?

Also, I forgot to add, do you think I can simply copy the contents
either of the parallel installations of WinXP or Windows to the SATA
drive (it has nothing on it presently) and it will enable me to have
dual boot?

Oh, you can save a backup copy of BOOT.INI and restore it if you like,
but doing so won't enable you to use your original (transplanted) WinXP
installation. You'd end up back in the new installation; with a
parallel installation that really has to go. Under normal
circumstances, placing two operating systems in the same partition is a
recipe for disaster. A careful, knowledgeable specialist can do this
safely for a short period of time, but the ordinary PC user had better
be backing up his data hourly, as a catastrophic failure is a matter of
"when," rather than "if."

I don't know. My "gut-feeling" is that you'll only be digging yourself
into a deeper hole. I'd think you'd want to have a stable installation
before trying to clone it to a new hard drive; otherwise, you'll only be
asking for trouble.
