What have I done? File copy problem

Running Win XP SP2. Not sure what I did, but after some maintenance &
application installation the following occurs:

Copying or moving files in Windows Explorer using drag & drop - with or without
the <Ctrl> or <Shift> keys - launches Windows Installer on drop, trying to
install Roxio Easy Media Creator 7. Cancelling the installer results in a
normal file transfer.

Roxio was installed quite a while ago (& ran fine), but this problem has only
just surfaced.

It no longer runs properly, and uninstallation attempts result in a fatal error
reading C:\Windows\Installer\Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.msi - removal fails.

Presumably I have 2 options?
1. Allow the installer to proceed when it starts during a copy; or
2. Manually remove all the Roxio folders & use Regedit to remove all references
to Roxio in the Registry.

I have my suspicions about the cause - it first occurred after Britannica
installation also installed QuickTime.

Advice please!!!

Roxio can cause problems like that: Check for the latest drivers/software
updates to fix those.

Quicktime might straighten out, too with a Roxio update. If not, uninstall,
reinstall.

Those may or may not help; depends on too many things to know for sure.
