Yes, a few users have reported this problem. To fix it, uninstall and
then reinstall the Microsoft Office Document Imaging feature using your
Office 2003 or 2007 CD:
1. Close all running applications. If you have any Office
application running, the MODI feature will not be installed properly.
2. Click on Start | Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs.
3. Click on "Microsoft Office 2003" or "Microsoft Office 2007" and
then click on "Change".
4. Check "Add or Remove Features" and click "Next".
5. On the bottom of the page check "Choose advanced customization
of applications." and click "Next".
6. Under Microsoft Office click on the + sign in front of
"Office Tools" to expand the category.
7. Click on the little black downward-pointing triangle to the
left of "Microsoft Office Document Imaging" and select "Not Available".
8. Click on "Update" to uninstall the MODI feature.
9. Repeat steps 1 to 6 to go back to the same location you were
before.
10. Click on the little black downward-pointing triangle to the
left of "Microsoft Office Document Imaging" and select "Run All from My
Computer".
11. Click on "Update" to reinstall the MODI feature.
My original reply assumed you previously had the MODI printer
functioning in your Office 2007 installation, and now the MODI printer
has disappeared from the list of available printers. If that is the
case, then my original reply is correct.
But if you recently installed Office 2007 and never had the MODI printer
or the other MODI features, then it is because Microsoft Office Document
Imaging is an optionally installed feature in Office 2007. Just add the
feature to your installation as described at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA012340671033.aspx . You'll
find the feature in the Office Tools category.
