What do you do when "SEND" doesn't make your e-mail go?

Having just subscribed to Office on my new Toshiba laptop, I tried to send
e-mails by hitting "SEND," but nothing happened at all, except that the
"send" button sort of flashed a little. Are there any magic words that I am
supposed to say or what? I would really appreciate the help of someone who
can remember what it was like not to know all the answers. Thanks!

To know all the answers, you must first answer some questions.

What version of Outlook are you using? Have you installed and tested your
email accounts? What do you have set for your send/receive settings? Do
you have an automatic polling interval set? What accounts are included in
the send/receive settings? What are the properties for each account? Does
your ISP require you to authenticate? (Check with your ISP web site for
information on account setup and required settings.)

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. All
unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.

After furious head scratching, Tim asked:

MS Office is an application suite, not a subscription service. Part of the
MS Office suite is an email application called, "MS Outlook". Within MS
Outlook are configuration menus for adding the names of your email
provider's inbound (POP3) and outbound (SMTP) servers. You have to
configure those servers before MS Outlook can work its magic on your email.

How about when your accounts are fine and work most of the time but yet
every once in a while you click send and absolutely nothing happens...110+
machines here with outlook 2003 and about 15-20 of these machines that I
know of do this currently on a regular basis, yet alt+s works for them
everytime.

See my currently unanswered post on this "click send no worky but alt+s
worky...WHY...?"
