I clicked on My Computer>Local Disk C: > Documents and Settings. There I
found a folder called LocalService. Inside it I found a folder called Local
Settings and inside it a folder for Application Data. I wonder (1) Why the
Application Data folder isn't on the same level as Local Settings, as it is
in the user profiles. (2) Should I change the level of Application Data
folder?
The only item in the Application Data folder is a folder for Microsoft.
Inside the Microsoft folder are folders for Internet Explorer, Messenger,
Windows, Ofice, and Windows Media. These same folders exist in each user
profile. For items that affect more than one user why not use All Users?
What is customarily stored in C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService?
I backed-up and clicked on LocalService and found folder named Application
Data and one called Local Settings.
What stired my interest was I wanted to determine where to store bookmark
and where to store the default settings for IE. What developed is more
generalized question about the distinction between Application Data and Local
Settings.
