OMG! And it was like pulling teeth to get you to see it!

Hey, I always admit when I make a mistake, it just takes longer when
you point it out as I only listen to 10% of what you say due to the
way you say it.

LOL! So what is your excuse that you didn't listen to the OP in the
first place when he said, "LISTEN VERY CAREFULLY. *ALL* of them have
Windows XP COA stickers on their case." I guess I used my voodoo to
make you not comprehend that, huh?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Before this thread I agreed with septic tank but but from what i read now is
that if you sell a PC that has no CD whatsoever bundled with it then you are
in voilation of the EULA. Circuit city is and was many times in violation of
this selling the pc but keeping the CD software for its employees. Often the
employess will cut the palstic take software home and tell customer they just
bought the pc and nothing else with software preinstalled. I bet if he sold
a pc with lets say a software title for cad engineering cost $12,000 then he
the seller would keep the cad software and just install it on HD. This is
so bad. Customer needs every bit of software on original retail cd not
burned copied cd.... I can see septick tank in court very very soon.

But in my case I can't even get past the newer product validation even with
the microsoft MVPs telling me to delete the DLL and go back to windows update
and the failed process starts all over. All I am trying to do is get to
install the media center roll up!!!! thats all and it fails.... fails fail
fails...

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wrong. What is required is a method of reinstall. That can be a
recovery partition on the PC's harddrive, no CD is required by
Microsoft's System Builders License.

Who said anything about burned copies? All Septic Tank does is repair
legal installations.

Before installing Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition
2005, read http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=900325, especially the
part about the .NET framework.

And what happens if you click on "hide this update"?

Alias

I did that and have seen absolutely no update notices since. Forcing the
issue shows the Validation tool as the *only* available update. It will
be interesting to see when they cave due to bad press.
