how do I use the files and settings transfer wizard to move my operating
system to my new western digital one terabyte my book external harddrive
when windows xp does not recognize it? where do I get windows xp drivers to
enable me to complete this task? My C: drive is too full and i am constantly
prompted to make room by deleting excess files. I would rather make use of
my new external drive, however I have been unsuccessful in finding the
drivers for it. PLEASE HELP.

You should not put the Windows operating system on an external drive.
Use it for data files.

How large is your C drive and how much free disk space is there? What
currently resides there?

Hope this helps.

First, Windows will not run on an external drive, second, the transfer
wizard does not transfer the entire drive, as it's name implies, it
transfers files and settings, not operating systems.
The drive should have come with any necessary drivers, have you checked the
mfg's support web site?

If you're wanting to backup your Windows installation you need disk
imaging software. Three popular programs are (in alphabetical order)
Acronis True Image, Symantec Norton Ghost and Terbyte Unlimited Image
for Windows.

If you're wanting to transfer your operating system to an external hard
drive, forget it. Windows was designed for internal drives only.
