Hi,
I am trying to set up a wireless home network using 128bit
WEP encryption but my PC running XP Home SP1a ( I think)
will not accept the encryption key. It seems to want 40 or
104 bit keys. My access point only offers 64bit and
128bit. Is there an update/service pack that I require?

Thanks

Andy

104-bit and 128-bit are different names for the same thing. 40-bit
and 64-bit are different names for the same thing.

That's because there are 24 bits of the encryption key that can't be
specified by the user. So 128-bit encryption has 104 user-specified
bits, and 64-bit encryption has 40 user-specified bits.
