Weird remote desktop problem

Hi,

I am experiencing a very weird remote desktop problem. I can connect
to my server fine and everything works well for sometime (not
constant). But later the keyboard gets messed up! Whenever I press any
key on the keyboard it seems to be combined with the 'Windows
key' (the one beside the left-Alt).
For eg. When I press 'e' windows explorer comes up, 'r' the Run
command window comes up!!!

I tried using On-Screen Keyboard to check if that solved the problem
but it didn't. Another colleague of mine connects to the same server
using remote desktop connection but nothing of this sort happens on
her machine.

I have searched everywhere and found nothing on this topic. Hope
someone of you might have some idea about the weird issue of mine.

Thanks,
V

How does your "Local" keyboard connect to the PC ? by PS2
or USB. Also does your keyboard use native drivers or a 3rd
party support software package ( such as Logitech's SetPoint
or Microsoft IntelliType ). Does your PC have the Language
Bar enabled and running ?

Keyboard conects using PS2. Native drivers are being used and language
bar is not running on my local computer. When I log off and log back
into the server the problem goes away for sometime.

Thanks,

Thanks for the details. Next thing I'd take a look at is any Hotkeys
that might be enabled either on the local machine or the Remote. A
number of Intel Graphics driver packages include a Hotkeys startup.
Would probably be a good idea to run the program AutoRuns and
see what startup and watchdog entries are running on each computer.
I'd also check the "Languages and Regional Settings" applet in CP
and verify the settings.
AutoRuns can be downloaded here:

I don't know that it would make any difference as this is a real
oddbal problem but have you updated to Remote Desktop 6?

With the On-Screen Keyboard utility running, I pressed the Windows key
on the regular keyboard while clicking the On-Screen "e" key. Explorer
opened. That suggests to me that a sticky Windows key on the keyboard
is still a possibility. With Remote Desktop, I would think that either
keyboard might be a factor, though I've never tried RD..
