When I add a www site to my favorites there is sometimes
an icon in the address bar that is related to the site
(GOOGLE). In IE favorites you see an icon that reflects
Google vice the IE default web page icon. After several
days the website icon gets replaced by the IE default
icon. Can this be changed to keep the website icon vice
the IE default? Also, the favorites folder in windows
explorer shows a shortcut with the website icon (if
available) vice the IE default icon after the website
default icon gets replaced..

You're referring to Favicons, which are not native to Internet Explorer.

Favicons are usually lost when you delete your Temporary Internet Files.

The easiest method to retain these is to install a 3rd party utility that will
store and maintain these in your system.

One excellent utility is called FavOrg. It used to be freeware from PC MAG, but
now requires a yearly subscription to
download from them. You can read about it here:
