'Favorites' Icons...why do they change?

Greetings.
This question is just to satisfy my curiousity. Usually, when I add a
website to my 'favorites' list, there will be a customized icon/logo added
next to the name of the address (instead of just the standard Explorer
logo/icon). But then, after a few days, the 'customized' icon/logo gets
replaced with the IE icon/logo.

Now, today, the reverse happened. I had a favorite address that as far back
as I can remember always just had the IE icon/logo. Now it has a customized
one.

What causes the logos/icons to change back and forth? It really doesn't
bother me, I'm just curious.

Thanks.

Favicons, as they're called, are stored in the Temporary Internet Files
(TIF). When TIF is cleared or they age out of TIF they are replaced with
the generic icon. You can fix this with FavOrg:

FavOrg - Restore and Save Favorite Icons (Line 108)

or get AM-Deadkink

Frank:
Thanks! I'll give this a try.
(I just open up one of these zip files and run the .exe file right?)
Sorry...I'm new to this...
