Icons in favorites folder

Question concerning website icons in IE favorites--

When saving a web page in favorites, the website's logo or icon sometimes
appears on the saved favorite's link, then eventually goes away and is
replaced by the IE default icon---why is this? Is there a way to keep the
website's icon?

TIA

Hmm... They are stored, these icons, in the TIF (temporary internet files)
and are deleted when you clear your cache. If you want to keep them you'd
have to not delete your TIF and I'd certainly not recommend that. You could,
alternatively, save each fav.ico from the server to your hard drive,
customize each one that you wanted to keep and set them to display that as
the icon but that's a bit like work.

Hi Ferdy :)

As Galen has explained the way the Favicons work, here are a couple of free
utility programs that let you retain them so that they won't get flushed or
deleted with the TIF's. They nboth work really well.

FavOrg 1.4 here:

or Version 1.2 here:

FavIconizer, here:
http://www.codeproject.com/tools/faviconizer.asp?target=favicons
This one will actually find about a third more than FavOrg does (since it
checks for referenced URL's), but lacks some of the other cababilites of
FavOrg. They both are very well recommended.

Hope this helps :)
