Web Site statistics

Martyn

Could anyone please help me with web site statistics?

I want to change or delete pages that do not attract visitors.

I use FP2003 with Win XP Home (and FP server
extensions) on a remote hosting site. (I'm not sure if .NET is installed -
I've only today read about IIS and don't know if I should try to get it)

The host site offers Webalizer - but that only shows
the top 30 pages

Does anyone have ideas about how I can get better statistics?

I don't see any references to Sharepoint - is this part of FP server
extensions or something that the hosting site must seperately provide?

(My web site is www.soulwork.net; the hosting site is www.az.pl )

Thanks in advance

Win XP Home does come with or support IIS

Your stats would need to be on your hosted site (not your PC)
If the host is running the FP 2002 SE and supports the FP Usage analysis, open your online site in FP and View Reports usage (also
very limited in results)

For more detailed web stats look at commercial packages like web trends

Hello Stefan

Do you think it's worth replacing Win Home XP for XP Pro for the IIS? Might
that help my need for statistics?

Martyn: Your local O/S does not play into this. Like Stefan said, it's all
on the host server.

Most web master control panels that have Webalizer, also have Analog statistics.
If you have the Analog statistics, they will show the count for each file / page on your server.

Ask tour ISP to enable you to download the log file. Then, you run your
own log analyzer.

AnalogX is good free web log analyzer
http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network.htm

QuickDNS is an addon that improves the DNS look up for AnalogX. Also
free, available at the same URL.

Any log analyzer tool can only analyze information you log. If what you
want is not logged, you need to tell your ISP to change the logging
options for your site.

For effective SEO, you need a tool for your site that can track where
people come from, what keywords they typed in, what search engine,
rankings for different keywords, # hits, what pages people went to, and
you need something more accurate and up-to-date than you server logs
can provide. I found a tool that rocks in this area. I learned about it
at the SES conference in NY this year. It can be found at:
http://hybrid6.hitslink.com. If you have questions, let me know.
