Could Not Find Web Server at Port 80

Ruth

Hi
I am using FP2003 and vista os. Up until recI was able to upload my website
using FP to the external web server hosted by someone else (ie. not in my
home). For some reason I can no longer upload the site, this has only
recently stopped working. The FP extensions are all installed on the server
and can be accessed by other people. I can upload the site on a computer
running XP Pro and using FP2003.

Please can anyone help with this as it's driving me nuts. I really need a
good walk through on how to get this to work.

Many thanks

Ruth

What is the exact path you are using to publish?
Could be a firewall issue on Vista. Check your settings.

Ruth,

I received the same message for about 5 days a few weeks ago. I contacted
our webhost, checked all of the settings and could not figure out the root of
the problem. Eventually it just fixed itself and I was able to upload pages
again. I was not using Vista. Perhaps you'll have the same luck and it will
fix itself.

Hi Tom

Have checked the firewall settings - not quite sure exactly what the
firewall should indicate and how to make sure FrontPage is allowed through.
A walk through would be great.

Thanks

Hi Melissa

Thanks for the message, only thing is that this has been like this for
around 8 weeks! I've searched all over the internet for some information but
to no avail! Will keep my fingers crossed that something will turn up and it
will fix itself!

Cheers

Ruth,

I am having the exact same issue. I have contacted my hosting provider and
they have done all they can with resetting the server/extensions for FP. My
issue is that FP keeps telling them that I have invalid attempts to log in
and I am added to THEIR firewall. It, in effect, locks me out of my site. I
can see it from other locations and they can log into my cpanel to access the
extensions, but I can do nothing!

I am still using XPPro on this machine, so I have updated to SP3... Still
not brave enough to try updating until I get some kind of answer from either
my provider or this board....

Good luck to you! I have been dealing with this issue for about 2.5
weeks... Not encouraged by your 8 week stint... :(
