Rather than filling the browser window, some pages have blank
(background color) margins or have the contents squeezed into a portion
of the browser window (e.g. left 2/3 or so). Recent problem (maybe as
much as 2 months). Seems to affect both IE and Netscape Navigator.

Occurs on all computers that I have checked (all running XP).

Does not affect all sites.

Anyone recognize this problem? Know the cause? Know a fix?

Did you increase your resolution? Many sites specify specific widths
for page contents, so do not use all of the browser window. Nothing you
can do about it, if this is the cause.

Thanks. My resolution is 1280x1024. I tried reducing it to a lower
resolution, with no visible effect.
In addition, sites are affected that are virtually certain not to have
changed their html, but do not display oages as they obce did.

PLEASE DO NOT TOP-POST!

The problem I described will occur at some sites for your resolution.
For example, the CNN site. Perhaps you should list a few of the sites
you have problems with, and a few you do not.

Here are some with margins on both sides

The designers have coded those pages to be fixed-width, left aligned
within the browser window.

The designers have coded those pages to be fixed-width, centred within
the browser window.
Of course, many sites display as I expect:

The designers have coded those pages following the principles of fluid
design, so they take up the full width of the browser window.

Bottom line: it's not your browser that is at fault; it is how the
designers have chosen to design the pages. You have to live with it.

Well, then I will. Thanks for your assistance. My memory must be at
fault, as I thought the behavior was different a month or so ago.

speaking of zillow

http://www.HomePriceMaps.com integrates
how much homes SOLD for nationwide using the google mapping technology.

Simply select city and state from the city menu and click search. If
you
don't see data for your area simply email (e-mail address removed) with
your
zipcode and or address and they'll update the site with your info and
email
you within a few days.
