Latest XP security/updates cause Netscape Browser to freeze

Hello - I installed a set of security and XP updates on Saturday 2/17/07.
Since the updates, I have a maddening problem with the Netscape browsers,
both versions 7.2 and 8.1, freezing for about a minute, releasing/working for
a minute, then freezing again. And on and on...
Have others had this problem? It occurs on any/all web pages, mail, etc.
Have tried the IE (loathsome) and Mozilla browsers without problems, but I
really prefer the Netscape.
Any clues as to a fix? I am truly tempted to remove the lates updates and
restart.
Of course, I don't want an invader to gain control of my computer!
Thanks for any help or sympathy - Nancy

I'm having the exact same problem! It's really frustrating. I have another
issue that's occuring along side it -- when my Task Manager opens up, none of
the tabs at the top show up (it's clear like they don't exist), so I can't
look at the processes or performance information.

Double-click the beige trim around the window. When you find the right
spot, you'll exit that display mode.

My daughter lives across town, also is having the same problem. She (like
myself) thought it was just her computer hiccupping...it must be an XP update
glitch. Very, very frustrating! Even though microsoft is married to IE
browser, this is just too much!

Maybe M$ changed the default display with an update as a learning
exercise.. as users opened TM and couldn't see the toolbar, they would
ask questions, learn to search MSKB, NG's or Google Groups. See how
educational they are?!?? ;o)

I requested help from HP support, and received a reply suggesting that I
uninstall my Netscape browser, then re-install it.
I've done that, and the problem seems to be solved.
I'd love to request help from microsoft and actually receive something other
than a canned reply.
