WD beta2 on W2K: 0x80010534

Hi,

trying to install Windows Defender Beta I receive the following error
message at the end:


Application failed to initialize: 0x80010534. Zuordnungen von Kontonamen und
Sicherheitskennungen wurden nicht durchgeführt.


It seems to be a problems with the user name and SID. or group policies?

I created a group called "users".
I added the users "Gast" and "Guest" to this group.


I cannot find anything in Winlogon.log
Last line in Userenv.log:
USERENV(610.55c) 16:17:32:547 RegisterGPNotification: CreateEvent failed
with 5

Can anybody help?

Check the messages about error 1609 in other groups for the solution to this
one, I believe.

Same Problem

Hello!

I have the same problem: Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 with all available Updates installed - GERMAN. After heavy problems installing Windows Defender, now I can't launch it: 0x80010534.

I tried to call Microsoft Support: No support for that product. Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta 1 worked fine until I tried to install Windows Defender. Microsoft AntiSpyware now cannot be launched after reinstalling it: Expired!

Applying updates to Windows Defender also does not work - no error message but "Could not be installed" (by Microsoft Update).

Please help! The Microsoft Knowledge Base articles does not provide a solution for that problem.
