Can someone tell me where I can find the .wav files in Windows XP Pro. I
want to substitute another sound for the "ding".

Why? Just set the event Ding to use your wav file. Where else but Sounds & Audio Devices in Control Panel.

Use the Search function and search for *.wav files.

You'll find it in C:\Windows\Media

Thanks a lot. Just what I needed. Turns out it was the "Default Beep" I
had to change. By the way, the files are in Windows->Media.
