Want to move a program from Start without reinstalling

Hi, I'd appreciate some help. I foolishly installed Sony Digital Voice Editor
2 in my Start menu. Very annoying having it pop up with each Start. I would
like to move it to another location without uninstalling/reinstalling it. I'm
running Windows XP home. Thanks!

Do you mean the startup folder on the All Programs menu?

If so you can just drag the shortcut out of the folder, or delete it.

In Windows Explorer | Local Disk C | Program Files. Is it listed there? If
it is, you installed it in the right place, but it was added to the Startup
menu. If you lack a Desktop shortcut, right click on the file and add it
now.

Start | Programs | Startup. If it is there, delete it.

Start | Run and type:

msconfig

OK.

Under the Startup tab, if you see it listed there, uncheck it. Close out and
reboot. Check the Don't Show Me box for the prompt you get after rebooting.

Yes, Startup on All Prog--thanks--did that, it still opens to the Help file
portion of program

Why do people use MSConfig? I mean, whenever I use it to disable something,
my PC automatically enters "selective startup" or Diagnostic mode" upon next
load. Just FYI

And so what's the problem? If you change something using it, then the next
boot it gives that message. Just check the box in the dialog window it
presents saying don't remind me again and it won't show again until the next
time you make a message.

It's used for a variety of things, temporarily disabling programs at startup
for diagnostic purposes, making some changes to the boot process, etc.
Never disable services using it. That should be done from services.msc.

It's not intended as a tool to control startups, but as a diagnostic tool.

It can be used for that but it's intended as a diagnostic tool not a startup
manager. Of course you can stop them from starting. Just have to find out
where they start from and msconfig will tell you that...along with other
tools out there.
