Want to Change to Default XP Icons

Lepre-Chaun

Hello,
I am running XP SP2. I installed the Vista Transformation Pack (Bi
Mistake). After i got tired of it slowing down my system i "tried" t
uninstall it. Without much success with uninstalling it, i restored m
pc to it's original factory condition. Everything went well in removin
the pack, but now the icons such as My Documents,My Network Places an
all of the folder icons in explorer are still the same as they were i
the Transformation Pack. What i would like to know is how i can rever
these back to the default xp icons. I have tried going into Desktop-
Properties--Desktop--Customise Desktop-- and changing to the defaul
icons. But it did not work.

Any help would be appreciated, Thankyo

Reapply the XP theme. If that doesn't work then :

**Backup registry before deteing anything !!!**

Start - Run - Regedit.exe
Go to -
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Icons
Right side, delete all values.

Go
to-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID
Left side, delete all subkeys under CLSID key.

if that doesn't work, then post back.

Good Luck, Ayush.

It can be. Transformation packs replace the system files.

Right click c:\documents and settings then choose Properties
Go to Customize tab and click on Change Icon
Select "C:\Windows\System32\shell32.dll" if it not already selected.

Are the icons normal or the replaces icons ?

No they didn't work, they are still the transformation pack icons. Will
this require a clean install?

Click Start > Run :
SFC /ScanNow

this will restore all the system files (you need the XP CD for this).
