Wan't sign into hotmail

IE won't sign into Hotmail........ error..........page could not be displayed

Happened before as well..........got XP pro reinstalled........and it solved the problem. But within three days the same problem starts. I can sign into hotmail using other browsers. But i need IE to work........because when it doesn't work other problems come up..........like msn messenger want sign in and windows update stops working.........(.from IE's tools>windows Update.
