want more icons than shell32.dll icons

Hello,

Is there an easy way to have more icons at my disposal? I've been
searching around, and there are lots of icon editors and free programs
(spyware alert), but I simply want a file, such as shell32.dll, that
contains about a thousand icons. The ones there by default are old and
tiresome.

As you are aware, there are many, many thousands of icons available
out there and many icon editors etc.
Why not gather up the .ico files you want and use one of the icon
programs to create an icon library in a .dll file?
That is what I did when I had the icon kick with Win95 a decade or so
ago.
You probably have many icon sites, but here is one you can get 14,000
in a zip file.
