Want all messages going to Deleted Items folder marked Read.

I often read my mail in the reading pane and then delete it. When I delete
the email it moves to the deleted folder and remains unread. I find myself
going to the deleted items folder and doing Select All | Mark Unread
regularly which just seems to be a waste of time. However I hate seeing
unread items.

I am looking for a way to create a rule (or other method) that says whenever
I delete something, mark it as read. Seems like Outlook should do that
automatically but it doesn't. Anyone know a way to do this?

No rule can do this. Rules operate automatically only when messages are
received. Change your Reading Pane settings to mark your messages read when
you read them in the Reading Pane.

I disagee. Deleteing a message is unrelated to reading it. Only reading it
should mark it as read.
