Why are my new messages going into my deleted items folder?

All my new e-mails are automatically being directed to my deleted items
folder. I think I tried to delete an e-mail from my unread mail and somehow
it effected all my new incoming e-mails.

Look in Tools > Rules and Alerts... maybe you somehow accidentally set up a
rule to delete all your incoming mail?

I deleted all my rules and magically I am receiving e-mails in my inbox
again. I will rebuild my rules very carefully! Thank you for your help.

I, too was having the same problem for over two weeks, but instead of
deleting all the Rules, I unchecked them one-by-one and then sent a test
email. Located the suspect one and deleted it. Will re-build more carefully
in the futre, but in years of using Rules, this is the first time I've had a
problem.

Thanks very much Lady Jean. I went to Tools-Rules & Alerts and unchecked the
first rule and presto mail started coming back to my inbox. For other people
with the same problem I suggest you follow Lady Jean's method and uncheck one
by one and send test messages until you find the offending rule. Cheers

Hi - I have Outlook 2007 running under Vista. I have a number of email
accounts, one Exchange and 3 Pop coming into Outlook. All of my emails are
going to my deleted items folder. They show up briefly in the inbox and then
move into the deleted items folder. I have no rules set up. I did but have
deleted them all. This made no difference except that the Pop emails that
were going directly into a subfolder because of a rule, are now going into
the deleted items folder also. I have McAfee Security Center that is up to
date. I have turned off the security center and it has had no effect on this
problem. I have deleted and added accounts and this has also not changed the
situation. Any ideas?

Thanks, Spikenet

If you start Outlook in safe mode (hold Ctrl when you start it), does the
behavior change? What you describe is usually caused by an antivirus or -spam
scanner integrated with Outlook. Turning off the McAfee product may not be
enough. Uninstall it and reinstall it without any mail scanning features.
tets again.
