We are using Exchange 2003 with Outlook 2003 installed on the client. In our
WAN office (which is coming over the WAN to access Exchange) they
intermittently receive the error "The connection to the Microsoft Exchange
Server is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this
action." They receive this error when they are starting a new e-mail message
and then clicking on their address book. Once they close out the e-mail and
start again, the address book come up successfully. Could this be an issue
of coming over the WAN to access their address book? One user in particular
experiencing the problem only has 256 addresses listed in her contacts and
there are approximately 200 listed in the GAL. Would caching their mailbox
help with this issue or is there another workaround?
