What you don't say is that you checked the box for "Remember each folder's
view settings." It's one of the choices available in the list under the
"Like current folder" button.
When the system undergoes a Resource allocation issue this can happen. It shouldn't happen often but it can happen periodically. If it is happening with regularity then Don's suggestion is what you want.
