Intel motherboard doesn't support W2K

I'm considering upgrading my mobo to an Intel DG41RQ. The User Guide
lists only Vista and XP as supported operating systems. I don't know if
this means the board will not work with W2K, or Intel just assumed that
not enough people still use W2K to include it in the supported OS list,
even if it will work with W2K.

Comments, please.

Thanks,

Ray

Perhaps it means they don't supply drivers for Win2K. You could check
the Intel website and see if the drivers for this board are listed as
suitable for Win2K.

The Realtek LAN and audio drivers still support Windows 2000. What I
would check is the driver for the onb0ard X4500 graphics.

Andy,

Thanks for suggesting I investigate that. Here,

it says that the G45 Express chipset does support W2000 professional,
SP1 or later. That's good news. Still, I'm wondering why the mobo
description doesn't list W2000 as supported, since the drivers for
various subsystems that I've checked so far do support W2000. See my

Probably because Microsoft has frozen Windows 2000 and is only supplying
security patches versus enhancements (i.e. new hardware device support).
