Josh

I have installed, uninstall and reinstalled the program from the CD three
times and it still will not work. I keep getting the same error message in
the wizard. It states the following thing:

Cannot Install this Hardware

There was a problem installing this hardware:

(Picture of a Camera) USB20 Camera

An error occurred during the installation of the device

the class installer has denied the request to install or upgrade this device

Click Finish to close the wizard.

Please help me!!

You can get a copy of UVCView here, for WinXP 32 bit.

http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/b/a/eba1050f-a31d-436b-9281-92cdfeae4b45/UVCView.x86.exe

This is what that tool looks like, when it is showing a connected device.
Usbview is another program very similar to the UVCView one. UVCView has
support for USB Video Class added to it, which is why the name is different.

Your webcam may have identity info like this, shown in UVCView. The
info is based on something posted in a Linux discussion.

Microsoft Corp LifeCam VX-6000.

idVendor: 0x045e
idProduct: 0x00f4

The resaon I ask about that, is apparently some other web cam
"lost" its identity, and it is pretty hard for an installer
to work, if the camera no longer looks like a VX-6000.

Download the software for your webcam from here, and run it. There may be a
problem with the CD..

That first link should have been here. The download.microsoft.com link
has been dead for a while, but there is an archive copy available.
