VPN / PPTP / Disconnects

Hello

I use Windows XP to connect trough VPN (PPTP) to my office. I have 3
Computers that connect to this VPN. A Desktop and 2 Notebooks. With the
desktop and one notebook it works fine. No disconnects at all. But with the
new Notebook the VPN line crashes after a few minutes. Also it happens that
TS (Remote Desktop) shows the disconnect symbol and sometimes it can
reconnect.

I really can't find out what's wrong. All computers have the same settings.
The two notebooks connect trough Wireless to the internet.

Has someone an Idea what this could be? Or how I can find out the problem?

Thanks
Patrick

Double check your signal strength for your wireless connection. Also
double check to see that you are maintaining a network connection
whenever you get disconnected like this.. Wireless can inject
spurious issues like this.

Hi Jeffrey

I just attached the computer to the cable (instead of wireless), and the
connection stays stable all the time. but when using the PPTP over wireless
(just on this dell 510m) it disconnects, but the wireless connection seems
always to be there. I also found out that the VPN connection over wireless
just falls when I stop transfering data. as long as i make a download etc it
works.

Do you have any hints what this could be?
Thanks

Wireless communications are generally unreliable in terms of constant
bandwidth (not in data integrity)... It could be that you momentarily
disconnected and then reconnected, but that the momentary
disconnection resulted in the tunnel failing...

thanks, i also found out, that with the 3COM pcmci card it works fine. just
with the internal wireless card it won't. so is there a log-file where I can
check what happens, maybe a setting is different? somewhere MTUs or
something like that.. .do you have an idea how to check that??

thanks
