VPN Greyed OUT

D

Dino Cera

I am trying to setup a VPN Connection.
After going to the Make New Connection and selecting the
Connect to the Network at my Worplace I click next.

Both the Dial-Up Connection and the VPN Connection are
greyed out.

I have already looked and the Control Panel Add Remove
Components.

Any ideas how to fix???

Thank you.

See if the Remote Access Connection Manager service is running?
(start, run, services.msc <enter>)

If not, attempt to start it.

If this fails, with error code 5, reinstall Service Pack 1 for Windows XP.

Thank you...

That was what I overlooked.

Next question if you don't mind???

NT 4.0 SP6a?

Can a VPN Client be created and Configured to work with
an Exchange Server with an address of VPN-01.XXX.XXX ?

I have the IP Addresses to the VPN Servers and the Names.

Just hoping.

Thank you again.

I'm not sure I know this answer.

You can certainly create a VPN connection from (or to) nt4 sp6a. Whether
your target VPN server is compatible with this or requires some proprietary
client software, I can't tell from here. With NT based networks, there can
be some difficulty if TCP/IP is not configured on the VPN server device,
which wasn't the default when NT came out.
