VPN connection to non-Microsoft VPN server (router)

My office network sits behind a firewall that also acts as a VPN server. I
have the same product at home and can establish a connection between the two
with no problem. My boss, however, may not want to install a similar
firewall at his home. The question is: Can he make a connection to the
office VPN server using only the network connection wizard (with subsequent
adjustment of connection properties) just as he could connect to a windows
PC with incoming connections enabled? (If so, how do you specify the local
and remote IPSec identifiers and other parameters that the server requires?)

Or do we have no choice but to buy another VPN server for his home?

Any help would be appreciated.

Depends on the firewall config. Check with the manufacturer's support pages.
A lot of firewalls let you set up both VPN site links and client connections
with client software....
