VPN connection shortcuts

On Windows XP, I kept a shortcut to a an often used VPN connection on the
desktop. It's been a while but if I remember correctly, I think I just
dragged the connectoid out of the Network and Dial-up connections window
onto the desktop. I haven't yet been able to find a way to do this in
Vista since the connections aren't icons but rather links. Is there a way
to create network shortcuts to VPN connections on the desktop? I'm using
Vista Home Basic.

Thanks for any advice...

I can say for Home Premium:

- go to Network and Support Center;
- there on the right pane click Manage Network Connections (or smth. like
this);
- in the new window you'll see the connections that you can drag-and-drop.
