Hi,

I have a windows 2000 prof. user that is VPN'ing into
windows 2000 SMS box where the user has an account. Now,
the user can establish a connection fine and his ipconfig
shows that he his connected fine.

When the users tries to map to the shared drive, in this
case the z drive, he gets "the network resource cannot be
found." What am I missing here.

TIA.

Can the client "see" the share using net view \\servername ? If not, what
about net view \\IPaddress ?

Do you have WINS installed? you need WINS as DNS doesn't work over the
VPN connection when browsing the network, can you ping any internal
clients?

In additional to the other suggestions, make sure the client machine isn't on a subnet that matches that of the VPN/SMS box.
This would prevent routing traffic to the machine.

Thank you,
Mike Johnston
