VPN mapping and shares

I have users connecting via VPN. When they run our manufacturing app, the
application must get images off a shared directory \\servername\images. The
account Everyone is the only account with permissions. If they don't map
this drive at runtime, they get an application warning saying no images
available.



How can I give permissions to this share without mapping a drive?



Why are there permissions different logging in through VPN then when they
log in locally?
 
make sure both Security and Sharing have the same permission.
