volume control

I'm running XP pro - I recently installed a USB 2.0 pci
card (I don't think it has anything to do with the
problem, but I thought I should mention it). When I
click the volume button on my taskbar to adjust the
volume master control. I used to hear a "bing" that
would sound louder or softer depending on where I place
the volume. Now I just hear a tone through my pc
speaker, and thats it. I don't think the usb card
altered this feature.

If your system sound choices are messed up, that might cause the system
to just beep. For example, if you have no sounds, it will just beep.

Hi,

Fix the Ding.wav File (Line 6)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

FYI:

I have the same problem, now I only hear a tone through my
PC speaker. After about 24 hours my sound will crash
entirely. Still looking for a fix on this one. I have
Sound Blaster Live, I think that and something in the
registry may have something to do with it. Please let me
know if you come up with anything, I'll try to do
likewise...
