Volume control

The volume control (Sound and Audio Devices / Audio / Volume) reverts to
Mute every time a CD / DVD is played. It's easy (if tedious) to have to
reset it every time. Why does this default to mute and, more importantly,
how do you stop it changing?

As in windows explorer,try playing the media thru windows media player.
