Volume control

Hi I hope someone can help. I cannot adjust the volume control on my
computer unless I use my keyboard. However the switch on the keyboard is a
bit dodgy and it doesn't always work. You have to keep pressing it meanwhile
your hearing is impaired.

I'me sure I used to have a volume control on the right side of my taksbar
beside the time. However it is no longer there. I tried to click on the
'place volume control in taskbar' in the control panel but I received an
error message saying

"Windows cannot display Volume Control in Task bar as Volume Control has not
been installed. To install use Add/Remove programs in Control Panel."

I have gone into Add/Remove programs but cannot find anything to do with
volume. I do not want to try something in case I remove something which
should not be removed.

Can you tell me how to Add the volume control to my Computer. I do not have
an instalation disc for Windows XP it was already installed when I purchased
the computer.

Thank you in anticipation

If you have not installed any new apps in the last 90 days, you can
try a system restore.
Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore

Jackie: two things you can do. First go to the sound section of the
control panel and enter that area. You'll find a check box for "show
volume control icon in system tray" or something to that effect. Make
sure it's checked. The second thing I recommend (and this has taken
care of it and the volume control has not disappeared since) is go to
this website and download the Item 320.

Hi Steve

Thanks for your reply. I have tried to check the box in the control panel
but as soon as I say OK it gives me the error message that it cannot perfom
this task as the volume control was not installed. Use Add/Remove to
install. Please can you advise now on what I should do next.
