Volume control

I just wiped the drive and re-installed windows. I have sp2 installed, as
well.

The volume control has appeared on my desktop. This is the small volume
control that only has the master volume and a mute button, not the larger one
that allows multiple controls. This control has no "X" along the top and I
cannot seem to get it to minimize. It sits over my windows.

Can someone please tell me how to get rid of this?

Maybe just try killing it from the taskmanager?

Just left click anywhere else on the desktop.
