How much ram does this really need?

I know you need about 1gb ,but do you need 2gb for games?

Probably.

But with 2Gb of quality RAM costing less than thirty quid right now, it's really not an issue, is it?

I may very well try Vista come the new year.

But before I do I shall transfer all my business stuff to another PC.

Better safe than sorry ;)

Still undecided whether to go for 32 or 64 bit though.

I heard you need 4gb to game with vista, or maybe thats recommended

You don't "need" 4GB, but it's recommended yes.

Since Vista is a hogger of RAM.

Vista does not 'hog' ram, it uses it ... 2k is ample. :)

vista does hog ram alot.

Saying you have 1024gb of ram vista will used most of that.

I download some software and the ram intake on 1gb was alot.

God know what it needs running games.

I will stick with xp for now and it does,nt hog my ram.

vista was a let down to me anyway.

What is so good about the aero effects anyway or better security?

2G is AMPLE! I have 2GB ram n on board Nvidia. If you aint interested in the ONboard you can go for the dedicated cards too...

but 2G is really ample for you go on smooth!
(But i wouldn't recommend VISTA of course!)

I agree, 2GB on my system seems perfectly fine. If you are worried, get Vista 64-bit and stick 8GB on there ;)
